CLASSES

At Premier Dance Academy, we are pleased to offer you a qualified faculty of instructors with extensive training and are well versed in children's education, physical fitness, and instructing students in all varieties of dance.  

 

We offer a variety of dance classes for all ages and abilities from beginner through advanced, ages 18mos to 100+! 

 

We train students in all styles of dance, performance and fitness including JAZZ, BALLET, TAP, LYRICAL, CONTEMPORARY, ATRISTIC & CREATIVE MOVEMENT, STREET GROOVE, PRE SCHOOL MOVEMENT, STAGE TROUPE, COMPETITION TEAM, MUSICAL THEATER, ACRO, STRENGTH & FLEXIBILTY, TECHNIQUE, FITNESS and MORE!!

 

We also provide many opportunities for our students to shine onstage in our dance recitals, community performances, and regional & national dance competitions, giving our dancers a chance to gain poise, grace and self-confidence.

CLASS  DESCRIPTIONS:

Pre-School & Creative Movement
An introduction to dance and movement using Ballet, Tap, Tumbling, Jazz and creative movement specifically designed to develop coordination, rhythm awareness and basic dance and classroom skills using children’s songs and games with an emphasis on FUN!

 

Ballet & Pointe
Teaches the formal technique using proper terminology with an emphasis on precision, grace, discipline and proper body alignment. Ballet is the necessary foundation to ALL dance styles.  Pointe is also offered for intermediate/advanced levels with teacher permission.

 

Tap
Rhythm, coordination and timing taught with style and fun!

 

Jazz
Fast paced and energetic dance taught to contemporary music using floor work, isolations, technique, across the floor and center combinations.

 

Street Jazz/Funk

Club and street dance combined with Jazz technique taught to funky and popular music.

 

Lyrical

A beautiful dance form implementing ballet, modern & jazz techniques to express lyrics of songs; flowing, graceful, emotional and inspirational. Develop strength & flexibility while acquiring solid dance technique.

 

Contemporary

A hybrid of ballet, jazz, lyrical and modern dance styles. It is a ballet-based technique that allows a greater range of movement than the strict body lines and foot work in traditional schools of ballet. Contemporary Ballet exposes dancers to a wide range of techniques that fosters versatility. This class focuses on centering, strengthening the body, increasing flexibility, improving balance, proper placement, body alignment, fluidity and emotion. The dancer learns to let the music and their own passion guide the movement.

 

Modern

A dance style developed in the 20th century and is a form of contemporary, theatrical and concert dance employing a special technique for developing the use of the entire body in movements of abstract ideas. 

 

Musical Theater

A class that will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Emphasis will also be placed on learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and telling a story through dance and facial expressions.

 

Stretch & Flexibility
A class to improve your flexibility technique in a warm room to ensure help produce flexible, healthy dancers.

Worship Dance

Teaches a wide array of dance styles as forms of worship! Traditional liturgical styles will be practiced as well as dance forms which are already commonly used around the world as forms of worship. Students will be challenged to dive even deeper than the traditional practice and explore how a variety of styles of dance can be used as forms of praise. Students will be given the opportunity to practice improvisation and choreography as part of the curriculum. Additionally, theatre arts will be incorporated into the curriculum in that students will be challenged to convey Biblical ideas using their expressions and other acting elements.

Music

Music history, theory, and fundamental techniques will be explored with interactive singing, dancing, and instrumental practices! Students will gain a greater understanding of and appreciation for music as a whole, which can greatly aid in their continued growth as dancers.
